Moving in to the light

The changing status of women in the wine industry. Young or not so young, the women of cognac have decided to take their destiny into their own hands. Rural life has never been kind to women. Legislation began to change in the 1960s. By 2022, women were working in all areas of the cognac industry: as farm managers, company directors, winegrowers, distillers, cellar masters, wine and brandy brokers and coopers. Often with multiple qualifications, they have all returned to the Charentes wine-growing region.
