CAPUCIN – Rémi Landier

CAPUCIN

The naturally French aperitif!

Maison Rémi Landier launches CAPUCIN, a lightly bitter French aperitif, conceived and crafted by Jean-Yves Landier — 4th-generation winegrower, distiller and cellar-master in Cognac — together with his daughter Géraldine, of the 5th generation. Drawing on memories of his country childhood, Jean-Yves set out to create the aperitif he had long dreamt of — a liqueur sitting at the crossroads of Pineau des Charentes, vermouth and bitter. After several years of research, he found the perfect formula to delight the palate.

An authentic aperitif where grape, bitterness and floral notes meet in perfect harmony:

  • A mistelle born of the mutage of fresh grape must, vodka and cognac eau-de-vie.
  • Natural botanicals infused in the mistelle: gentian, ginger, bitter orange and Roman chamomile.

Colour : Pale yellow

Nose : Ample, delicate and powerful. Fruity and tangy, the fruit notes shine vividly (grape, pear, heady blossom). Aromatic plants and citrus then unfurl (gentian, lemon, bitter orange). Layer by layer, the nose reveals exotic richness (lime, pineapple).

Palate : Voluptuous even in its bitterness. Soft on the attack, it gathers strength to reach a striking freshness. Its limpid style is stripped of any superfluity. It thrives on its balance of sweetness, bitterness and acidity. The fruit shines through with exotic character.

Finish : Long and intense. The quality of the fruit remains outstanding. Both smooth and refreshing, it carries the palate into an endless wave of vivacity. The empty glass returns the pure essence of grape juice.

Capucin is a versatile aperitif, to be enjoyed in ways as varied as they are inventive. Sip it neat over ice, use it as a high-proof gin substitute in a tonic for a lighter long drink, pair it with its big brother Cognac to delight any spirits enthusiast — or turn it into a spritz with a slice of lime for an utterly addictive experience. Drinking local is good, but drinking local that's truly delicious is even better!
