Pineau Rémi Landier – Cuvée d'Exception Vieux Pineau Blanc – 1995

Family-crafted since 1890

75cl – 17,5%

This unique 1995 lot has given rise to a particularly aromatic Pineau, in which the cognac has gradually melded with the grape must over time. An extraordinarily rare Pineau, richly textured, with pronounced rancio notes that marry beautifully with great freshness. A true gastronomic spirit that will delight lovers of fine wines and fine spirits alike.

COLOUR: Golden.

NOSE: Fruity and richly textured. Opens on orange blossom and candied fruit — apricot and pineapple to the fore. With aeration, chestnut and quince paste round out the picture.

PALATE: Indulgent and beautifully balanced, moving from acidity and freshness toward great sweetness and  empyreumatic notes. It evolves like a fruit salad — peach, lychee, passion fruit — with almond, nutmeg and chestnut at mid-palate, all wrapped in honey.

FINISH: Exceptionally long, on quince paste, orange zest, pepper, cocoa and a persistent liquorice-rancio.

VINTAGE : 1995
AOC : Pineau des Charentes Blanc — Vieux
GRAPE VARIETY : Ugni Blanc
AGEING : French oak casks (former Bordeaux wine casks).
PRODUCTION :The result of blending freshly harvested grape must with young cognac (mutage). This 1995 lot was transferred to oak casks once the mutage was complete, then carefully aged. Cask-laid in late 1995 and bottled in the first half of 2025, it stands at 30 years of age — an exceptionally rare Pineau.

This Pineau is best enjoyed well chilled — as an aperitif or as a digestif. It also pairs beautifully with food, much like a great sweet wine.

A delightful companion to foie gras, a chocolate dessert or a blue cheese. It also makes a perfect pairing with a fine cigar.
