NOSE Rich and indulgent, it opens with notes of orange blossom, mace and extra nutmeg, with fruity accents of citrus and red fruits (blackberry, strawberry) then evolves into a register that is both spicier and herbaceous, also with quince, lemon and tropical fruits (physalis, passion fruit, papaya)
PALATE Rich and smooth, it echoes the fruity and spicy notes of the nose, with an even more indulgent profile featuring chocolate and toasty notes of nuts and cinnamon, all enveloped in maple syrup.
FINISH : very long and indulgent with notes of apricot, orange zest, red berries, vanilla, malt and gingerbread
AIKAN is distinguished by a second aging process in a tropical climate on the island of Martinique, in ex-rum casks. This tropical aging process imparts a unique concentration of aromas. The angel's share is exceptional, nearly 101 TP3T/year compared to 1.51 TP3T in Scotland. It is now recognized that one year of maturation is equivalent in taste to four years in a temperate climate. Its first aging takes place over one year in Brittany, and the second over two years in Martinique.
The casks used for aging are ex-rum casks and French casks.
