Abuelo 7-year-old rum

Abuelo 7 Year Old Rum is emblematic of the Varela Hermanos distillery. A blend of rums aged for 7 years in American white oak barrels that previously held Bourbon, it sits midway between "agricultural" sipping rums, drier and leaning towards exotic fruit aromas, and molasses-style rums, sweeter and characterized by aromas of caramel, vanilla, and coconut. The oak, present but well-integrated, provides a smooth, mellow texture with a pleasant freshness. It's an ideal rum for introducing people to rum tasting and for expertly crafting cocktails.

A balanced profile, combining sweetness, woodiness, and toastiness. Aromas of vanilla, caramel, coconut, and exotic fruits (flambéed banana). Superb freshness.
